At its core, string theory states that the most fundamental constituents of reality are not point-like particles, but rather one-dimensional “strings” that vibrate at specific frequencies. These vibrations give rise to the different particles and forces we observe in the universe. In a parallel fashion, music is created by the vibration of strings (such as those of a violin or guitar), air columns, or membranes, with each frequency producing a particular pitch or tone.
